Supermarkets: A few minutes drive will take to the nearest hypermarket at Chalais, where there is also an excellent open air market every Monday morning.
Beaches: The beautiful Gironde Estuary is a little over an hour away, with good swimming beaches a little further north.
Airports: Bordeaux - 70 minutes. Bergerac and La Rochelle - 90 minutes.
Ferries: Caen or Le Havre - 6 hours.
Trains: Chalais railway station is just 9 km away. This links to Angouleme, which is the nearest TGV station, and can be reached in about 30 minutes.

Looking for slightly "quirky" holiday accomodation in Charente? Just for two, located at the heart of the historic village of Brossac, the Tower House is situated within the walled grounds of our own nineteenth century house. Why choose Brossac? Why indeed? Why choose a village, instead of staying in remote countryside? Well, for a start; imagine popping out for fresh croissants while the kettle is boiling, or even stepping out for that forgotten bottle of wine! And no need to worry about drinking a few glasses of wine with your restaurant meal! Join us and experience real life in France! We very much look forward to welcoming you to share in our village life! The accommodation consists of an open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area, with 2 armchairs. Stairs (slightly steeper than normal) lead off to the bedroom. By popular request, it's "non-smoking" indoors, please. Sorry - the gite is not suitable for children under 8, due to an unfenced goldfish pond
